Kozlovic Malvasia, 2019

SUSTAINABLE FARMING Gianfranco Kozlović is the largest private producer of Malvasia in Istria, and a vocal crusader for quality. His vineyards dot the hillsides of northern Istria, where his modern winery is located. This lemon-colored dry wine offers hay, white peach, apple and almond on the nose. It is medium-bodied, unoaked, with fresh acidity and slight mineral and herb on the palate. Serve chilled with summer seafood, creamy risotto with musrooms, grilled vegetables, and pasta with shellfish and/or clams.

Pomalo Freskavina

Graševina (aka Welschriesling) is the most widely planted white grape in Croatia, and most prominently grown in the Slavonia area near the border of Hungary. You can’t talk about Croatian whites, without talking about Graševina!

The whole point of Pomalo is to take it easy and not take things too seriously – like the name of this wine: Freškavina, loosely translated to “freshy wine”. Nothing too technical here. With the gentle expression of native yeast fermentations, Freškavina, exudes the floral aromatics and tropical fruit expression of Welschriesling, with a bright and crispy backbone that makes it super oh so refreshing. In a region famous for cured and smoked pork, pair with paprika cured meats (Kulen), fish paprikaš, vegetable stew, and crispy lard cracklings (čvarci).

Pullus Pinot Grigio, 2018

Macerated for 72 hours with skins gives this wine a light, friendly, and clear pinky, salmon color. Made from perfect ripe grapes that were picked THREE TIMES OVER THE SPAN OF SEPTEMBER, this Pinot Grigio was given cold maceration, ML, partial lees aging, and 10% neutral oak maturation. Starting with a delightful rosy hue typical of the grape when grown in superior climates, this dry wine delivers everything wine lovers expect from Pinot Grigio - and much, much more! The nose offers ripe pear, green melon and floral notes, while the discreet oak and the creamy quality given by lees aging round out the experience on the palate with a sensational and lushess spice note you don't expect from a Pinot Grigio. A wine with great structure, finesse, and elegance, it is perfect for pasta, white meat and young cheeses.

Pullus Sauvignon Blanc, 2020

SUSTAINABLE FARMING Sauvignon Blanc in the Pullus
line is made from grapes harvested FOUR TIMES OVER THE
COURSE OF ONE MONTH to ensure optimal ripeness and
complexity. Protective technology ensures and allows very lows
levels of added sulphur, freshness, and the preservation of
varietal characteristics found in much higher price points of
sauvignon blanc. Partial lees aging adds a roundness unexpected
in a wine made for drinking now. A dry, delightfully rounded
wine with grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, guava and pineapple
on the nose and hints of paprika, minerality, tropical fruits, and
delightful acidity on the palate make this a springtime treat with
asparagus dishes and seafood.

Skaramica Posip

Terrain: Inland locations on the Island of Korčula, mostly flat and approximately 300 meters above sea level. Red soil with clay stones over a limestone base.

Farming: Organic. No irrigation, minimal amount of spraying in Spring and mid-Summer months, with small amounts of powdered sulfites and occasionally copper.

Vinification: Hand-harvest followed by a couple days of skin maceration and controlled cold fermentation between 16° C - 18° C in stainless steel (inox) tanks. Fermentation is done through high-grade (noncommercial) yeasts. The wine is aged for 8 months in stainless steel (inox) tanks, coarsely fined and filtered before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Pošip is an incredibly old indigenous Croatian varietal that dates back to the 4th century BC (!) that originally comes from the island of Korčula, where Skaramuča family sources the grapes for this wine today. This pošip has a light-golden color, it is loaded with bright aromas of melon and dried herbs. Its salty freshness and tremendous minerality invites you to keep on sipping.

Serve chilled with oysters, shrimp, traditional Dalmatian scampi in brudet sauce, mussels prepared in a variety of ways, grilled white fish, or roasted chicken.

Zlatan Plavac - Otok Hvar, 2015

A premium red wine from Zlatan Plenković, one of Croatia’s best winemakers, that does not carry such an extra-ordinary premium price. The wine is dark ruby in color, with a rich and layered, pleasant, and deep aroma that has undertones of Dalmatian herbs, spices, minerality, saltiness, dark fruit, and a touch of barnyard and “funk.” The wine is warm and comforting on the nose, which is typical of Zlatan’s wines and has given them a specific identity and cult-following in Croatia and Europe. It is immensely structured and balanced, and possesses a refined, complex, and an exceptional presence on the palate that is followed by a long and persistent finish. Zlatan Plavac has long been linked as the traditional drinks of fishermen, peasants and farmers, as well as the exceptional wine connoisseur, with the very best “details” that a Croatian table has to offer during a special occasion.
