Kobal Blaufrankisch, 2017
Blaufränkisch is a special premium dark, ruby-colored wine with an aroma which resembles overripened blackberries, chocolate, black mulberries and dried plums. The harmony of fruity aromas is nicely rounded up with wood characteristics both in scent and in flavor, with a moderately long velvet finish. We recommend allowing the wine to decant for up to 45 minutes before consumption.
Kobal Pinot Grigio, 2015
SUSTAINABLE FARMING Kobal PINK Pinot Gris is made from perfectly ripe grapes shaped by both old school and modern technological approaches in the cellar. Extended skin maceration and lees ageing are responsible for the wine’s depth, structure and salmon-pink color. The bouquet is reminiscent of ripe pear, red apple, flowers, melon and tropical fruit. Pleasant acidity and minerality on the palate are followed by the discreet creamy aftertaste that is typical of wines matured on lees. This is a wine for drinking within 2 years of bottling. Serve it chilled with grilled vegetables, charcuterie, young cheeses, pasta with white wine sauce, chicken, pork or veal.
Kobal Sauvignon Blanc, 2015
SUSTAINABLE FARMING Kobal Sauvignon Blanc is made from perfectly ripe grapes shaped by both old school and modern technological approaches in the cellar. 36-hour skin maceration and lees ageing are responsible for the wine’s depth and structure. After fermentation the wine went through partial biological de-acidification in stainless steel tanks. It was aged on lees until bottling when it was lightly filtered and only a tiny amount of sulfite added. The bouquet is reminiscent of passion fruit, gooseberry, blackcurrant and grapefruit. Pleasant acidity and minerality on the palate are followed by the discreet creamy aftertaste that is typical of wines matured on lee
Mansus Pinot Grigio, 2018
CERTIFIED ORGANIC, NATURAL WINE PINK PINOT GRIGIO! A completely different take on Pinot Grigio compared to our Pullus. The Makovec winery has always produced serious and more terroir driven wines, even for Vipava Valley standards. Unlike most Pinot Grigio's at this price point, this wine does not even have a touch of fruit. Earthy, chalky, structured, vegetal, but it drinks surprisingly well! Only 12.5% alcohol for this "orange" Pinot Grigio but the wine does have a broad and substantial presence on the palate due to the old vines that the grapes come from. No sulfites added, always native yeasts, and certified organic.
Pikasi Barbera, 2018
This youthful unoaked barbera is showing lots of depth and expression. Rich aromas of cherry, raspberry and blackberry with white pepper and a touch of fennel lead to a slightly salty and bitter palate with plenty of weight and substance. This is a casual wine meant to be drunk young, but, given some time, it will likely develop and mature into a seriously complex wine in a year or two, even in screwcaps. Pair it with casual fare, bring it to a BBQ! It will go nicely with burgers, ribs, sausages, steak, kebabs and also pizza.
Pikasi Barbera Rose, 2019
This wine offers aromas of strawberry rhubarb pie, which lead to a creamy and slightly salty mouthfeel with a lingering finish. Perfect refreshment for a warm day, this wine will also pair nicely with young cheeses, charcuterie, salads, baked fish and roasted vegetables.
Pikasi Pinela, 2018
Pinela is a rare local variety from Vipava Valley, with only about 50 hectars cultivated currently. Pinela is a gentle grape offering elegant aromas of white peach, wild flowers and almonds. Pleasant creaminess and savory mouthwatering minerality linger on the palate. Fresh and fruity when served cold, but reveals more layers and complexity closer to room temperature. Try it with
Pikasi Rebula, 2018
Rebula is widely planted on the Slovenian side of the Brda-Collio region and in nearby Vipava Valley. The grape has thick skins and is known to make excellent skin contact wines. Pikasi rebula has no skin contact but still has a distinct structure and presence on the palate. Definitely a pallet driven wine that will compliment a variety of dishes. Serve it chilled but not too cold with lobster, shrimp, mussels prepared in a variety of ways, grilled white fish, prosciutto, roasted chicken or turkey, and grilled juicy pork chops.
